Jesus Peña was born in Michoacan and came to the U.S. in 1975. In 1983 he moved to Napa Valley and began working for John Kongsgaard at Newton Winery, where he worked in the vineyard and the cellar. In 1988 he began working for David Abreu in some of the finest vineyards in the Valley and was soon promoted to Foreman at David’s Madrona Ranch Vineyard. David recommended Jesus to Ann Colgin, where he became Vineyard Foreman in 2000. From the first day of development at the IX Estate Vineyard Jesus has overseen every level of detail of the day-to-day management, collaborating with winemaker Allison Tauziet to ensure grape growing and winemaking are perfectly matched.
