Colgin Cellars' eight-magnum vertical of Cariad combined with a comparative tasting and dinner for six capped the list of highest-selling lots ever at Auction Napa Valley on June 5th, fetching a stunning $1 Million for local Napa Valley charities in mere moments. After a fierce round of bidding between four attendees, Colgin Cellars Proprietors Ann Colgin and Joe Wender quadrupled the lot to accommodate all four bidders willing to pay $250,000 each.
Ann and Joe are known for their generosity and dedication to charitable causes, and to date, Colgin Cellars has raised over $7 Million for charities since its founding in 1992. Excitement was high as 2010 Auction Napa Valley goers brought the vigor of past auctions back to this year's event, raising $8.51 Million for local charities. The live auction, which took place at Meadowood Napa Valley on Saturday, June 5th was the highlight of the four-day event.
